The StoreClaw desktop app brings StoreClaw from the browser to your computer. In addition to the main ecommerce capabilities available on the web, it can access a local working folder with your permission, work with local files, and open task results in apps installed on your computer.

You can use the desktop app for product and store analysis, SEO analysis, content marketing, asset processing, document generation, and other ecommerce operations. You can also switch between your personal and team workspaces.

Important: StoreClaw models, connectors, and task services depend on the cloud. The desktop app requires an internet connection and does not currently support fully offline use.

What You Can Do with the Desktop App

Start Ecommerce Tasks Quickly

After installation, StoreClaw can remain available from the macOS Dock, Windows taskbar, or system tray. You can open StoreClaw without launching a browser and entering the website address each time.

On the new-task page, you can:

  • Enter an ecommerce request and create a task;
  • Upload images, videos, spreadsheets, and documents;
  • Upload and use personal Skills;
  • Associate a task with a project;
  • Use your local microphone for voice input;
  • Select a local working folder when you want StoreClaw to work with files in that folder.

Work with Local Files and Assets

After you authorize a working folder, StoreClaw can work within that authorized scope to:

  • View the folder structure;
  • Search file names or text content;
  • Read text files;
  • Upload local files from the folder for use in a task;
  • Create, edit, or overwrite files after receiving the required approval;
  • Open generated PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Markdown, and other files with local apps.

This is useful for workflows involving large collections of product images, video assets, product-detail documents, operational reports, and data files. It also reduces repeated manual uploading, downloading, and file searching.

Manage Common StoreClaw Capabilities

The desktop and web apps share the main StoreClaw capabilities and data, including:

  • Chats and task history;
  • Projects;
  • Scheduled tasks;
  • My Skills and Skill Hub on the Plugins -> Skills page;
  • Plugins and connectors;
  • Channels;
  • Library;
  • Personal account and team settings.

Subscription upgrades, payments, invoices, registration, and some third-party authorizations open in your external browser. After you complete sign-in, registration, or connector OAuth authorization, StoreClaw returns you to the corresponding page in the desktop app.

Supported Platforms

StoreClaw plans to support the following operating systems and processor architectures:

Operating system Supported processor architectures
macOS Apple Silicon, Intel
Windows x64, ARM64

Refer to the StoreClaw download page for available installers and minimum system versions.

Download and Install the Desktop App

  1. Go to the StoreClaw download page.
  2. Choose the correct installer for your operating system and processor architecture.
  3. Open the downloaded installer and follow the system instructions.
  4. Start the StoreClaw desktop app and select Log in.
  5. StoreClaw opens your browser to complete authentication and returns you to the desktop app after verification succeeds.

If you do not have a StoreClaw account, complete registration in the browser and then return to the desktop app.

The desktop and web apps use the same StoreClaw account. Signing out of the desktop app signs you out only from that app, not from the web app or your other devices.

Authorize a Local Working Folder

A local working folder is a folder you allow StoreClaw to use. Selecting a folder is optional when creating a task and is required only when the task needs local files.

Add a Working Folder

  1. Create a new task in the desktop app.
  2. Select the Add directory button next to the input box.
  3. Select Local directory.
  4. Choose the folder in the system file picker.
  5. Review the permission information and confirm access.

Only one working folder can be active at a time. Authorization applies recursively to that folder and all of its subfolders and files.

For example, if you authorize Projects/StoreClaw:

  • StoreClaw can work with Projects/StoreClaw and its subfolders and files within the authorized scope;
  • StoreClaw's built-in file tools cannot access its parent folder, Projects;
  • StoreClaw's built-in file tools cannot access a sibling folder such as Projects/AnotherApp.

Folder Authorization Scope

If you select Always allow, StoreClaw saves the folder authorization. The current chat, your other existing chats, and new chats can read the folder and its subfolders without asking for folder-read access again. You can disconnect the folder at any time to revoke this persistent authorization.

If you select Allow for this chat, StoreClaw asks for your authorization again when a new chat needs to access the folder.

Actions Available After Authorization

The authorization and approval behavior depends on the risk of the action:

Action type Default behavior
List folders, read files, or search files Runs automatically within the authorized working folder
Upload files from the authorized folder Runs automatically within the authorized working folder
Create, edit, or overwrite files Requests approval before execution; some actions can be allowed persistently
Safe read-only commands May run automatically in the active working folder
Dangerous or unknown commands Requests approval before every execution
Irreversible deletion, clearing, or overwriting Requests approval every time and cannot be permanently allowed
Open a local browser for automation Requests approval before execution

When approving a sensitive action, you may see options such as Deny, Allow once, Allow for this request, or Always for this Task. The available scopes depend on the action type. Irreversible actions do not provide a permanent-allow option. For details, see Review and Approve Sensitive Actions.

Review the action before approving: Write access may allow StoreClaw to create, edit, or delete files. A task may also provide file contents to a third-party tool you have connected. Do not authorize a broad folder that contains unrelated sensitive information, account credentials, or personal data.

How Working Folder Access Relates to System Permissions

Working folder authorization limits the access boundary of StoreClaw's built-in file tools. Some tasks may also run commands through a local shell. The shell is constrained by:

  • StoreClaw command approval rules;
  • The active working folder;
  • The file and account permissions enforced by macOS or Windows.

Selecting a working folder does not automatically give StoreClaw elevated system privileges. To reduce risk, choose the smallest folder required for the task. Do not authorize your entire user folder, a disk root, or a parent folder containing several unrelated projects.

Revoke Folder Access

If you no longer want StoreClaw to access a folder, disconnect it:

  1. Open the current task or the working-folder management entry.
  2. Find the connected folder.
  3. Select Disconnect folder or Disconnect.
  4. Select Disconnect again in the confirmation dialog.

You can also go to Settings → Local devices to view and manage all authorized folders for your devices, then select Disconnect to revoke access.

After disconnection, StoreClaw can no longer read or modify files through that working folder. Disconnecting a folder does not delete the original files on your computer or remove chats, task results, or assets already saved to StoreClaw's servers.

Are Local Files Uploaded to the Cloud?

StoreClaw accesses your selected folder locally whenever possible, but this does not mean that all processing happens offline.

File contents, or the necessary information extracted from a file, may be sent to the StoreClaw cloud or a third-party service you actively connected when:

  • You add a local file to a task;
  • A task needs a cloud model to analyze the file;
  • You ask StoreClaw to upload the file to a connector or third-party tool;
  • A task combines a local file with a store, marketing, or collaboration service.

Before approving an action involving sensitive files, confirm that the target file, task purpose, and third-party service meet your data-security requirements.

Scheduled Tasks and System Sleep

You can create, view, and manage Scheduled Tasks from the desktop app. For a task that depends on local files or the local environment to run on time, make sure:

  • The computer remains powered on;
  • The StoreClaw desktop app remains signed in and running;
  • The network connection is available;
  • The working folder required by the task remains connected;
  • The operating system does not put the computer to sleep.

Do Tasks Keep Running After I Close the Window?

Selecting the close button in the title bar closes only the main window. StoreClaw continues running in the system tray or background.

To close StoreClaw completely, select Quit from the system tray, menu bar, or application menu. After StoreClaw quits completely, tasks that depend on local folders or the local environment cannot continue using that computer.

Update the Desktop App

StoreClaw checks for updates when the app starts and performs another automatic check once each day. You can also go to Profile → Settings → Version to view the installed version and check for updates manually.

When a new version is available:

  1. StoreClaw downloads the update package and prompts you to update.
  2. Restart the app when prompted.
  3. The new version takes effect after restart.

Uninstall the Desktop App

Windows

Open Settings → Apps → Installed apps, find StoreClaw, and select Uninstall.

macOS

Quit StoreClaw, then drag StoreClaw from the Applications folder to the Trash.

Uninstalling the desktop app does not delete your StoreClaw account or remove chats, projects, scheduled tasks, assets, Skills, or connector records saved by the web app or StoreClaw services.

When you uninstall the app or clear its data, the desktop sign-in token, local cache, and temporary files may be removed. Uninstalling StoreClaw does not delete your existing working files from the computer.

Sync Data Across Devices

The desktop and web apps use the same server-side data. Chats, projects, assets, scheduled tasks, Skills, and connector status synchronize when the app starts, when you change pages, after an action completes, or when you refresh manually.

If two devices briefly show different information, confirm that the network connection is working, then refresh the page or reopen the app.

FAQ

Why Can't I See the Local Folder Feature?

Make sure you are using the official StoreClaw desktop app rather than the web app in a browser, and confirm that the desktop app is up to date.

Why Can't StoreClaw Read a File?

Possible reasons include:

  • The file is outside the currently authorized working folder;
  • The working folder has been disconnected;
  • The file was moved, renamed, or deleted;
  • macOS or Windows denied access;
  • Another application is using the file;
  • The current system account does not have permission to read the file.

Select the correct working folder again and confirm that the file still exists and is accessible to the current system account.

Why Do I Still Need to Approve File Writes or Deletions?

Folder authorization does not allow every action without confirmation. Creating, overwriting, moving, or deleting files and running dangerous or unknown commands may cause data loss, so StoreClaw requests approval based on risk. Irreversible actions cannot be permanently allowed.

Why Didn't a Scheduled Task Use My Local File?

Make sure the computer is powered on and online, StoreClaw is still running, and the working folder remains connected. Turn on Keep system awake when needed.

Can StoreClaw Work Completely Offline?

No. StoreClaw's core models, connectors, and server-side tasks depend on the network. Your local files remain on the computer when it is offline, but you cannot normally start or continue tasks that require cloud services.

Can the Desktop App Control My Entire Computer?

The current version does not provide Computer Use and does not allow user-defined local MCP servers. StoreClaw primarily works with files inside the folder you select. It requests approval based on risk before sensitive actions such as local commands, file writes, file deletion, or browser automation.

Why Does a Connector Open an External Browser?

Third-party connectors normally use OAuth in an external browser for secure authorization. After authorization completes, StoreClaw automatically returns you to the connector page in the desktop app.

Why Am I Still Signed In on the Web After Signing Out of the Desktop App?

The desktop and web apps maintain sign-in state separately for each device. Signing out of the desktop app affects only that app and does not automatically sign you out from the web or another device.
