NEWStoreClaw Ranks #1 Product of the Week on Product Hunt

The browser and files panel beside your chat lets you view web pages and files used in your task. Use it to preview reports or check information on a page, then return to the chat whenever you want to ask a follow-up question or refine your request.

Both the desktop and web apps let you view chat files and the cloud browser used by a task. The desktop app also includes a built-in browser that you can use to visit websites manually.

This guide applies to the StoreClaw desktop and web apps.

Let StoreClaw Browse for Your Task

  1. Describe the task in a chat, including its subject, scope, and the result you want. Include any specific websites or reference links.
  2. When the task needs a browser, StoreClaw opens the relevant pages itself.
  3. Review progress and results in the chat. You can also view the browser pages in the side panel to check information or refine your request.

For example, ask, "Compare the selling points and specifications of these two products and summarize the main differences." After you provide the product information, StoreClaw browses as needed. Use the pages shown in the panel to check the analysis and ask follow-up questions in the chat.

When a task needs a browser on your device, the desktop app prioritizes its built-in browser. If you want to use a connected Chrome extension, say so in the chat.

Open and View the Panel

When a task uses the built-in or cloud browser, the relevant pages appear in the side panel. You can also click the panel icon at the top of the chat to open it, or click a file in the chat to open its preview.

When you manually open the panel for the first time and no task page is being displayed, the starting view depends on the app:

App Default view What you can do
Desktop app Browser home page Enter a URL, open a recently visited page, or open Chat files
Web app Chat file list Select a file from the current chat and preview it in its own tab

If you collapse a panel that has already been opened, reopening it preserves the content you were viewing.

Optional: Browse Manually in the Desktop App

To visit a website yourself or check a particular page, use the built-in browser's address bar and navigation buttons.

Enter a URL

  1. Open the panel and enter the URL in the address bar on the browser home page.
  2. Press Enter to open the page.
  3. Use the Back, Forward, and Refresh buttons next to the address bar to navigate.

The address bar opens URLs. It does not currently support entering keywords to search the web.

To view multiple pages, create another browser tab at the top of the panel and enter a different URL. Web pages and files can remain open in separate tabs; use the tabs at the top to switch between them.

Return to a Previously Visited Page

Click an entry in Recently visited on the browser home page to reopen it.

You can also type part of an address in the address bar to see matching browsing history. Each result shows the site icon, page name, and full URL so you can identify the page.

Action How to do it
Open a matching result Click the result
Change the selected result Press ↑ / ↓
Open the selected result Press Enter
Dismiss the results Press Esc

For example, after visiting a website, type part of its URL and select it from the matching results. If there is no match, enter the full URL.

View Chat Files

The chat file list shows cloud files generated or uploaded in the current chat, ordered from newest to oldest by default.

  1. Desktop app: Click Chat files on the browser home page. Web app: Select the Chat files tab in the panel.
  2. Click a file in the list on the right to preview it.
  3. Clicking another file opens another tab. Clicking a file that is already open switches to its existing tab.

Before you select a file, the preview area prompts you to choose one from the list on the right. In the desktop app, you can also use the return control on this page to go back to the browser home page.

While viewing a file, click the file list icon in the file toolbar to show or hide the list on the right. Hiding the list gives the preview more space; show it again when you want to choose another file.

Switch Between Preview and Source

For HTML files, both the desktop and web apps let you switch between Preview and Source in the file toolbar. Preview shows the rendered page; Source shows the file content. The desktop app also supports switching between preview and source for Markdown (MD) files.

Changing the viewing mode does not modify the file.

Share and Download

  • Share one file: Open the file, click Share in its toolbar, and copy the file link from the sharing dialog.
  • Download one file: Open the file and click Download in its toolbar.
  • Download multiple files: Use the bulk download control in the file list, select the files you need, and click download.

Downloads started from the desktop app's built-in browser are saved to your computer's default downloads folder.

Switch Tabs, Collapse the Panel, and Use Full Screen

Use the tabs at the top of the panel to switch between open web pages, files, and the cloud browser.

What you want to do How to do it Result
Make more room for the chat Click the panel's collapse icon or click the panel icon at the top of the chat again Hides the panel while keeping its content open; reopen it to continue viewing
Close a file preview Click × on the file's tab Closes that tab; clicking the file again reopens and reloads it
Enlarge the content Click the panel's full-screen button Enlarges the entire panel while keeping its tabs available; exit full screen to return to the side view

Closing a file tab does not delete the file from the chat. To hide the content temporarily, collapse the panel.

The web app does not provide a control for manually creating blank tabs. Selecting a file opens a file tab; when a task uses the cloud browser, the corresponding browser tab opens.

View a Task's Cloud Browser

When a task needs the cloud browser, StoreClaw opens the panel and selects the corresponding cloud browser tab so you can see the page. This tab can be viewed in both the desktop and web apps.

StoreClaw controls when the cloud browser tab closes as part of the task. The tab has no × for you to close it manually. You can switch to another tab or collapse the entire panel. Collapsing the panel only hides it and does not close the cloud browser.

Continue the Same Task in Another App

Open the same chat in another app to follow progress, ask about results, or add instructions. Switching apps does not automatically move the browser being used to another device.

Continue a Desktop Browser Task in the Web App

If a task started in the built-in browser on a particular computer, actions that need that computer still run there after you switch to the web app. Before proceeding, StoreClaw tells you which computer it will use.

Keep that computer online and the StoreClaw desktop app running. If you are only asking about existing results and do not need to use that computer, the notice about which computer will be used is not repeated.

If the computer is temporarily unreachable, StoreClaw first tries to reconnect. If it remains unavailable, StoreClaw attempts to continue through an available browser extension or cloud browser and explains this in the chat. You can also wake the computer and open the desktop app to restore the connection.

Local files and services do not automatically transfer when you switch apps. Whether work involving those resources can continue depends on the original computer being reachable and whether an alternative can meet the task's needs.

Continue a Cloud Browser Task in the Desktop App

A task that started in the cloud browser can continue using it after you switch to the desktop app. Follow progress in the same chat and open the panel to view the corresponding tab.
